In protest of the United Nations' Climate Change Conference, referred to as COP 26, this circular ball of saltwater was frozen for 26 hours and then made to melt within 26 minutes on a ceramic hot plate, slowly spinning.
Memento Mori, 2018

The phrase "Memento Mori" was whispered to Confederate Army Generals by their black, enslaved attachés as a final caution before a military action; it translates to "remember you will die.” In this installation, white pills marked 208 (the generic formulary for the antidepressant Lexapro) are disintegrated using spoiled cow's milk. My goal was to juxtapose the oppressive systems that restrict our individual self-expression alongside our universal desire to be happy, be healthy, belong and hide within the whiteness that infects our cultural lineage.
